H is for House

This week we played a game called "Blow my House down".  For this game I had the kids take turns reading the sight words on the bricks.  For each word they knew they could build a part of the "house".  When we were all done building our house as a class we all got to knock it down, and we all know that is the best part!  We also played hide and hop to the H's.  I hid capital and lowercases all around the room and then we all hopped around looking for them.  We played a counting 'hot' chocolate game using real marshmallows that we got to eat when we were done.  We also played sound bingo where I played different sounds.  When the kids heard the sound being played they looked on their bingo board for the picture of the object that made the same sound.  If they had it they could put a bingo marker on it.  We played until everyone got a blackout. The rest of the pictures are some of the things we have been doing in class. Now that we have learned the digraphs ch, sh, th, and wh I decided to add in qu and ph.  The kids are doing great and seem to enjoy learning them. We are also still using our sight word books with witchy fingers for pointing and each day we do some paperwork to practice phonics, math, writing and coloring skills.
