The funnest sensory activity EVER!!! Color mixing! Pure entertainment with LOTS of learning!

Color pom-pom play and exploration.  Scoops, cups, and spoons included for extra development and learning.

Our first week

A busy week----Don't they look worn out on the picture on the top right?  This was taken at the end of the day.  I know my little guy fell asleep for a nap after both days of preschool the first week.  We work and play hard here at Morning Light!

Z is for Zebra

As part of the zebra theme I added black and white objects to our sensory tub and we made foot print zebras for art.  I let the kids trace then cut out their own foot and then decorate them with black paint.

Y is for Yellow and Yarn

I let the kids have fun playing with yellow objects and yarn.  I threw in all sorts of different objects with all sorts of textures such as foam, pom-poms, felt, bouncy balls, milk tops, etc.  I also put in tweezers  with cups for fine-motor practice.

X is for X marks the spot

We can't very well learn about X with out some sort of pirate-y treasure!  The kids swarmed to this one!  They had a great time exploring the box and bringing me little trinkets they found in it as pretend gifts. I just adore these kiddos!

W is for Worm Sensory Tub

For this sensory tub I used shredded brown paper for the dirt and pipe cleaners cut in thirds and shaped in wormlike designs.  I added magnets to the box and let the kids try to "catch" the worms.  Bonus is that besides it being a fun sensory and dramatic play experience they also learn a bit about magnetism.

U is for Umbrella's (Rain)

I thought we better have some water fun this week since we are focusing on umbrella's! Generally, most kids really like the water table! One of my favorite quotes I overheard while the kids were exploring was "I'm trying to collect jewels to make a machine!" Yes my friends.....SOOO much learning goes on during sensory playtime!

S is for Solar System

I love this unit!  We have a great time exploring and learning about Space and our very own Solar System with lots of hands on learning activities and art projects. We had a solar system themed Sensory Tub, we counted Star Fighters, built our own rockets (while practicing sight words),  went stargazing for letter stars, made "moons" using a flour/paint combo for an awesome texture and made craters using milk top lids. We also did some real rocket science using a balloon!  The kids LOVED this one of course!
